A Kingdom occupying the East port of Scandinavia inthe north Europe. Its neighboring countries are Norway in the west and north west, Finland/Baltic countries in the east and Denmark in the south east.

Sweden has a population of 8,9 Million people, of which nearly 18 percent are of foreign heritage.

Sweden’s GDP at present is about 750 Billion Skr, which equivalents about 110 Billion Dollar. Growth rate is about 2 percent per year.

Sweden is famous for her production of modern weapons besides "The Nobel Prize". 
Other industry products are electronic components, heavy machinaries, mobile phones, paper mass etc. Sweden is also famous for its multinational construction firms, which are capable of constructing Water dams, Mountain Roads and Riggs etc.

Large National and Multinational companies are ABB (Asia Brown Bovery), Ericsson Telecom, Volvo, Saab Automobiles, NCC etc.

Bangladeshis in Sweden

Bangladeshis began to arrive in Sweden in large numbers first after the liberation of Bangladesh. They came here mostly in groups of 4 - 10 persons. Largest group arrived here in 1975-76, 1978, 1980-81 and 1984-85. Since 1985 migration from Bangladesh to Sweden had seen in limited scale and mostly in small groups and as family members.

There are many Bangladeshi students in Sweden both in undergraduate and Post-graduate studies.Most students are studying computer science or business administration. There are some doctors too,engaged in postgraduate studies. A large number of Bangladeshis, likewise other immigrant groups, are at present jobless.

A few Bangladeshis are working in different executive jobs. Most of The Bangladeshis are working in various industries and in the state or local service organizations. A few Bangladeshis also achieved success in different business like consulting in IT, Restaurants, Travel Agencies and small departmental stores.
